Henry Miller wrote: "Develop interest in life as you see it; in people, things, literature, music — the world is SO RICH, simply throbbing with rich treasures, beautiful souls and interesting people. FORGET YOURSELF."
Forget yourself.
Two words that contain everything. Stop looking inward at your flaws and look outward at the world. It is throbbing. It is rich. It is full of treasures you have not yet found and people you have not yet loved and music you have not yet heard.
I wrote this quote in my journal in coloured pencils in 2017. I wrote it in purple and pink and orange and gold. I wrote it the way it deserves to be written — in every colour at once.
And underneath I wrote: jag behöver nåd. Jag behöver kärlek. Jag behöver skönhet. I need joy. I need sunshine.
Because sometimes you have to name what you need before you can forget yourself enough to find it.
